Australia’s top ranked agencies and creatives

AUSTRALIA - Following a fruitful award season for Australia in 2010, Leo Burnett and ECD Andy Dilallo have emerged as the most awarded advertising agency and creative in Australia, according to Campaign Asia-Pacific's The Creative Rankings.

The Creative Rankings is a comprehensive ranking of the most awarded creatives, agencies, networks, advertisers, countries and sectors in Asia-Pacific according to international and regional awards shows in 2010 and 2011.

Each award has been assigned a predetermined number of points according to recommendations by The Creative Rankings committee.

Also topping the ranking as the most awarded ECD across the Asia-Pacific region, Dilallo made waves at Cannes Lions with his ‘EOS Photochains’ campaign for Canon, taking home a total of 27 awards. In addition to his work for Canon, Dilallo’s efforts for client WWF were also instrumental in propelling him to the top spot.

Dilallo’s colleagues Jay Benjamin, Michael Canning, Kieran Anthill and Kieran Ots join him in the top 10 most awarded creatives in Australia, also earning acclaim for their part in Canon’s ‘EOS Photochains’ and award winning campaigns for WWF. Ots also added awards for his work on Earth Hour in 2010.

With 26 awards, Benjamin sits in third place followed by Canning with 24 awards in fifth place, Anthill with 23 awards in sixth place and Ots with 14 awards in seventh place.

In a close second place, also with 26 awards, is Ogilvy’s Steve Back. Back relocated to Singapore at the start of this year from Saatchi & Saatchi Australia. He left on a high note following a very successful awards season in 2010, bringing home nine Cannes Lions for Saatchi & Saatchi, five of which went to Toyota’s ‘Nothing soft gets in’. Other award winning clients under his remit last year was beer brand Tooheys and Pedestrian Council of Australia.

In fourth place is Whybin TBWA Tequila Australia’s Dave Bowman with 24 awards, also receiving credit for his involvement in the Cannes haul for Toyota and Tooheys. Tied in seventh position alongside Ots and both credited with 15 awards, Vince Lagan and Steve Jackson’s work on Toyota and Pedestrian Council of Australia rounds off Saatchi & Saatchi Australia’s generous share of the top 10 awarded creatives in Australia.

Finally Clemenger BBDO Australia’s Ant Keogh with 12 awards sits in tenth position for his part in Guide Dogs Australia’s ‘Support scent’, credited with three Cannes Lions. Further award-winning campaigns under Keogh’s remit were for Carlton Draught and Yellow Pages.

The top 10 ECD spots for Australia sees Dilallo, Benjamin and Keogh in the top three spots, followed by Clemenger BBDO’s James McGrath in fourth position. McGrath won nine awards in 2010, including two Cannes Lions for clients Chum and M&Ms.

Also with nine awards, DDB Australia’s Matt Eastwood finished in fifth place, winning Cannes, Spikes and D&AD awards for McDonalds.

Three Drunk Monkey’s Justin Drape (six awards) and Scott Nowell (four awards) end in sixth and ninth place respectively, most notably credited for their work for The Cancer Council and BBC Knowlegde.

Tied with Drape in sixth position is JWT Australia’s Richard Muntz with seven awards, including nods for clients VicRoads and Australia Childhood Foundation.

Ben Coulson, George Patterson Y&R ECD, follows in seventh position with three awards and BMF Australia’s Warren Brown rounds of the list of top ten ECDs for Australia in 2010.

Looking beyond creatives to the most awarded advertising agencies down under, the top spot goes to Leo Burnett, hauling a total of 28 awards, including 10 Cannes Lions.

Saatchi & Saatchi follows with 26 awards, Clemenger BBDO with 16 awards and Droga 5 with 13 awards.

The top ten, in order, is rounded off by Sapient Nitro, DDB, Three Drunk Monkeys, JWT, George Patterson Y&R and Publicis Mojo.
