This Hyundai Sonata will be gone in 60 seconds

AUSTRALIA - The irresistible new Hyundai Sonata turns a mild-mannered carpooler into a bad neighbor and then a car thief in a new TVC by Innocean Australia and Finch.

Client: Hyundai Motor Company Australia

Agency: Innocean Australia

Market: Australia

Campaign scope: The spot is the first phase of a wider campaign for the latest Sonata. The campaign will also include a dedicated spot for Hyundai's sponsorship of the ICC Cricket World Cup, which starts on 14 February. A digitally-led content component will follow that.

Campaign Asia Pacific's comments: Actors and actresses are the unsung heros of many campaigns, and that's certainly the case here. The idea itself is so simple that it might not have seemed particularly exciting on a storyboard. But the performances, along with the other details of execution, such as the editing and soundtrack, make it work admirably.

Previously: The brand and agency developed crowdsourced ideas for a global campaign and created a 'Choose your own adventure' for a new SUV. The TVC discussed here debuted last Friday, up against competition from Honda and Volvo.
