Subway takes JWT Sydney's 'Live feed' concept global

The agency's World Sandwich Day concept went to 60 countries and led to the donation of more than 13 million meals.

On 'World Sandwich Day' on November 3, more than 40,000 Subway restaurants in 60 countries took part in the brand's 'Live feed' initiative, during which it donated a meal to a charity for each purchase.

All told, the day resulted in more than 13 million donated meals, with the country-specific and global tallies displayed via live feeds to dynamic billboards, online ads and websites throughout the day.

J Walter Thompson Sydney conceived of the idea, winning a pitch for World Sandwich Day against agencies from Canada, the UK, the US, the Middle East and Latin America in August. The agency had won the the Subway Australia account earlier in the year.

Sales at the 40,000 participating restaurants increased by up to 20%, according to the agency.
