Tribal DDB Asia president Amanda King to step down

ASIA-PACIFIC - Amanda King, president of Tribal DDB Asia-Pacific, is to leave the agency to spend more time with her family in Australia.

According to the agency, King will remain with the agency until March 2012, although it also added it was very close to appointing a replacement.

“As many of my colleagues at Tribal DDB know, I have wanted to slow down for a while now," King told Campaign. "I am keen to now spend more time with my children in Sydney. Tribal DDB is the best digital network there is and I look forward to continuing to provide leading creative business solutions for our clients."

King joined Tribal DDB Sydney in 2000 and moved to a regional role in 2007. Originally from the UK, King had moved to Australia to work for Ogilvy & Mather, but left within six months to set up her own agency Octopus. Following the acquisition of Octopus by WPP eight years later, King went on to work for Publicis.

In 2010, King was named Digital Agency Head of the Year at the Digital Media Awards. Separately, Tribal DDB was named Digital Agency of the year for the second year running at Campaign's 2010 Agency of the Year awards.

John Zeigler, Chairman and CEO of DDB Group Asia Pacific, Japan and India said, "Amanda has decided to return to Australia on a permanent basis so that she can get far more family time, and reduce her impossible travel schedule. We are discussing a replacement for Amanda’s role with key Tribal DDB executives both locally and globally and Amanda has also been working with us to ensure we find the best possible candidate. We are now very close to moving someone into this position."
