In the 10 years that Mayer has been with Starcom, she has worked across account management, strategic planning and digital disciplines, and was most recently national digital director.

In her new role, Mayer will be charged with all facets of digital media, including display, search, video, mobile and social media. She will also lead a team of digital specialists to deliver more comprehensive expertise for clients.

Mayer will further grow digital know-how within the Publicis Groupe agency and all staff.

She will report both to SMG’s COO Chris Nolan and to the groups’ global digital chief, Sean Finnegan, to contribute directly to its global digital direction.

On her promotion, Nolan said: “Yvette has been a loyal member of the Starcom team instrumental in business leadership as we have navigated the ever-changing challenges and opportunities of the digital media landscape. I have absolute confidence in Yvette's ability to continue to lead and develop our business in the digital media future.”

Mayer added: “I’m really excited by the opportunity to drive Starcom’s digital direction for our agency and for our clients who have a strong appetite for a complete integrated digital experience. We have some aggressive growth targets in the digital space and I feel confident that I’ve got the right talent to support me in delivering on them.”
