Pheiffer will start his new job on 1 November, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of VP and MD Jason Chau, who is joining Accenture Interactive after spending less than two years with the agency.

Meanwhile, Ame Tang (pictured) has been promoted as client services lead. She joined the company six months ago as regional account director. In her new role, she will be responsible for working on client engagements and capitalising on digital marketing opportunities and experiences for the company's various clients.

Christian Oversohl, senior vice president and MD Asia Pacific, told Campaign Asia-Pacific that Pheiffer, who is a native of South Africa, has led various portfolios for SapientNitro in Germany, India, North America and London. He has deep business expertise in building the company’s leadership presence in global and local regions. He also possesses diverse market experience in delivering solutions across North America, Europe, India and Asia Pacific.

Oversohl said that with his background, Torben would be a great fit for the China office as he also speaks several languages and has worked in many countries and on MNC accounts.

Some of the key accounts in China office include Ferrero Rocher, Barcadi and McLaren.

Pheiffer will report to Christian Oversohl, managing director, SapientNitro APAC, and will serve as a member of the APAC Leadership team.

Meanwhile, Shannon Dix, director of global clients in SapientNitro's China office is leaving the company to take up a global marketing role on the client side. However, he declined to disclose his new role.
