Proximity Live managing partners resign to set up consultancy

SHANGHAI - After co-founding the PR agency Proximity Live in 2007, its managing directors Angelito Tan and Jude Robert resigned on Saturday and have announced the launch of a new luxury advisory firm—Robert, Tan & Gao Consulting (RTG)—along with new partner Eddie Gao and newly appointed general manager Simon Tung.

Tan told Campaign Asia-Pacific that Proximity Live’s clients and staff have an option to stay with Proximity Live or join the new company, and that most have chosen to move to RTG.

Robert, Tan & Gao Consulting is headquartered in Shanghai and its retainer clients include the Platinum Guild International, TAG Heuer, Fiji Water and Tori Burch.

RTG has been established to provide expert business and strategic insights across communications, retail advisory and government relations to China’s demanding luxury and premium sector, according to the executives.

“RTG was formed out of the need of our clients for holistic business consulting across communications, retail and government relations," Tan said. "We are a team of internationally minded luxury brand specialists who are committed to China.”

Meanwhile Carol Potter, president and CEO of BBDO Proximity Greater China confirmed that she will be taking direct responsibility for Proximity Live. The agency stated that Potter's background in the diamond and jewelry industry means she can bring her experience to bear on the business.

“Across both BBDO and Proximity Live, with clients like Tiffany, Mercedes-Benz, Platinum and Kate Spade New York, we have an unrivalled experience of luxury consumers and marketing to them," Potter said. "It makes sense to bring that knowledge and understanding closer together."
