Ogilvy RedWorks grabs HKTDC’s creative projects

HONG KONG - Ogilvy RedWorks wins over a long list of rivals to handle creative design for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's (HKTDC) collateral.

Ogilvy RedWorks grabs HKTDC’s creative projects

A spokesperson for the agency told Campaign Asia-Pacific that, “We don't have a formal list, but from what we saw at the briefing, pretty much every agency in Hong Kong was invited.” However one 4A agency boss told Campaign that it had declined participation because the budget scale was less than anticipated.

Ogilvy RedWorks secured the win after a competitive pitch in September, with the formal appointment coming about two weeks ago.

“We envisage the project going for at least the next 12 months as the HKTDC has hundreds of collaterals for their various initiatives," the spokesperson said. "A majority will be Hong Kong focused but lots of the them will go global.”

The firm has worked for the quasi-government organization before, and the first phrase of the new work should launch toward the end of 2013, continuing into 2014.

HKTDC has issued several pitch tenders this year. DDB is working on the organisation's corporate strategy.

According to the HKTDC website, the council has more than 40 overseas offices, including 12 on the Chinese mainland. It promotes Hong Kong as a comprehensive business platform that has increasing recognition as Asia’s central business district.
