Mini takes its dealers on a wild Borneo adventure

Mini wanted to reward dealership managers who had achieved strong sales in 2006. The company wanted to take its staff to a destination they had not been to before. One quarter of Mini's employees are women, so it wanted to ensure a balanced itinerary was put together.

Mini takes its dealers on a wild Borneo adventure
Challenges After a ten-hour flight from Britain to Malaysia, one of the major challenges was to ensure enough time for the group to both relax and to enjoy the provided activities. Unseasonal weather meant the itinerary, which included sailing, jet-skiing and scuba-diving, had to be changed at short notice. Execution Delegates spent two nights in Borneo and a night in Kuala Lumpur. On arrival in Sabah, the group was greeted by a children's choir. Delegates then had the choice of having a massage or taking part in a sports tournament. In keeping with the Go Wild theme, delegates were taken into the jungle for 4x4 driving and whitewater rafting. They also visited an orangutan sanctuary. In KL, delegates stayed at the Westin Hotel. They were driven through the city on 35 Harley- Davidson motorbikes to a sevencourse dinner. At the dinner, Mini held a ceremony to present team prizes. The group then departed for the late flight home. Verdict Trevor Smithers, national dealer support manager at Mini, says the trip was an enormous success. "People felt the logistics of the three days worked brilliantly. It is certainly not a trip our staff are going to forget in a hurry."
