The LongXi Festival of Minds 2011 which will take place between 19 to 22 August in Macau and include a screening and exhibitions of award-winning advertising from around the world and speaker sessions by top global creative leaders.

The founders of LongXi explained that the objective of the festival is to introduce innovative marketing concepts and advanced technology to the local market, as well as marketing and communication channels applicable to the creative industry.

Some 500 delegates including brand communication practitioners, production partners and marketers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia are expected to participate in the festival.

A major part of the festival is the Longxi Nova Awards 2011 which will see young teams of art directors and writers present ideas using non-traditional media to a judging panel 48 hours after receiving the brief. The top three teams will make final presentations on stage in front of a live audience at the LongXi Festival of Minds.

Mak pointed out that Macau and Las Vegas have 'close similarities'. Las Vegas is currently the third largest advertising and convention market in the US and the organisers hope the festival will help establish Macau as a platform for Chinese advertising professionals in the region.

Lam added the festival could be extended into a bigger platform beyond advertising in the future, as Chinese creatives are also making significant impact in the animation, fashion and architecture industries.

Conde Group is the management company for this year event.

The LongXi International Chinese Advertising Creative Awards is the only Chinese language advertising award show currently included in two global annual creative rankings, including the Gunn Report and the Big Won. Now in its 13th year, the festival has previously been held in Beijing, Hanzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Urumqi, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
