Living-room dramas with goofy dads never get old

Here's two new spots from Australia, both of which include dads behaving oddly.

The first, '3D Movie Night', is for insurer AAMI by Ogilvy Melbourne.

Next we have 'Get used to a better living room', for Ikea by The Monkeys:

Although Ad Nut tires of the dumb dad trope, so it's nice that these spots are harmless, stereotype-wise. You might even be impressed by Ikea dad's grace and agility and by AAMI dad's cool reaction to a scary situation.

The Ikea spot is the stronger of the two. The mystery behind the father's odd dance compels one to watch and provides a better payoff. The AAMI spot doesn't measure up to the best Ad Nut has seen from the brand in recent times, as it's more slapsticky than quirky (see "Klepto cats and karate kids: AAMI's winning formula continues to deliver"), but it's still a long way from being bad.
