Prieto relocates to New York where he will be responsible for managing and growing the agency's portfolio of global clients across the world.
His most recent role was Y&R chief executive for Europe, Middle East and Africa, based at the agency's London office. He took on this role after being promoted from international managing director on the Colgate-Palmolive account, based in Hong Kong.
Prieto left Ogilvy in 2006 after 17 years, with his last position being senior partner, worldwide executive group director at the agency. There, he held various senior management posts in New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico and Los Angeles and he worked with various clients including American Express, Coca-Cola, Kimberly-Clark and Unilever.
He says his departure from Y&R was part of a restructure of Y&R's European operations, moving away from a centralised operation to separate management operations leading key markets.
“We are thrilled to have Jaime back in the family," remarked Ogilvy & Mather Global CEO Miles Young.
"He is a true internationalist who gets brands, which makes him the perfect fit to drive the expansion of our business with our global clients."
