Electrolux Laptop Kitchen the future of cooking?

The tech industry has managed to introduce portability into virtually every facet of our lives. With ideas running low, it's time to turn our attention to cooking equipment that goes beyond the capabilities of your basic gas stove.

Enter the Electrolux Laptop Kitchen. Even at first glance, it's clear this cooking contraption is more concept than veritable product. By fusing together your laptop with your kitchen stove, it's formed a device that lets you whip up a Power Point document on its touchscreen display, while simultaneously knocking up an egg sarnie. Either that, or you can use its built-in 3G and Wi-Fi to peruse recipes for that convoluted Moroccan dish you saw on MasterChef.  Read more...

Canon PowerShot SX40 HS packs a big zoom

Announced alongside the premium S100 compact, the SX40 comes packing a few party tricks. Namely, its 35x optical zoom and ultra-fast new Digic 5 processor promising improved colour, less noise and faster burst shooting. In fact, Canon tells us its new high speed burst HQ option allows the SX40 to shoot up to eight frames per second at full resolution.

A couple of other new features have made it onboard, such as intelligent image stabilisation that detects your shooting conditions to automatically determine which mode to use. The SX40 HS is also the latest model to feature the HS System, which combines a high-sensitivity back-illuminated 12.1MP CMOS sensor with Canon’s new breed of image processor to capture low noise images in all manner of conditions.  Read more...

Kodak outs EasyShare M5370 for simple photo taking

Kodak's next-gen EasyShare Touch camera – the M5370 – may have a new compact design, but it shares much of its specs with its predecessor. So, there are still plenty of ways to tag and share photos when the camera's docked, thanks to Kodak's Share button and the Share Button App which automatically sends your photos via email or uploads them to the usual social network suspects with your friends already tagged. Only this time round, it crams in more pixels, upgrading from a 14MP to 16MP sensor.  Read more...

Need to Know - Windows 8

Yesterday’s BUILD conference saw Microsoft unveiling its next iteration of Windows and with the developer build of the new OS now available to download, we thought we’d show you the basics to prepare you for your first foray in to the world of Windows 8.

All shapes and sizes
Windows 8 will play nicely with a whole slew of devices, ranging from 10in tablets and notebooks to big screen all-in-one PCs. The prospect of a fully-fledged ‘grown up’ OS on a tablet should definitely appeal to the productivity crowd.  Read more...

Bang & Olufsen launches the limited edition BeoVision 10-46

If you’re in the market for some shiny and expensive tech then look no further than B&O’s £7,400 BeoVision 10-46. Only 500 pieces will be produced in the alluringly named ‘Chantrelle’ colour which will also grace the brand new easel stand which – by the way – aims to create the impression of a painting leaning against a wall. Fancy stuff.

And if the change left out of £10,000 is burning a hole in your pocket, you may also wish to consider the £2,600 BeoLab 6002 speakers which will also be offered in the new colour, on the condition that they are purchased together with the television.  Read more...

Logitech launches no-strings-attached Wireless Headset and Boombox

Logitech has just added two new products to its range of accessories aimed at tablet users – the Wireless Headset and the Wireless Boombox.

The Wireless Headset is compatible with iThings and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. Its laser-tuned drivers (we don't know quite how that works, either) deliver sound to your ears, powered for up to six hours by a rechargeable battery. Meanwhile, you can chat away on calls or Facetime with the included noise-cancelling microphone. Though probably not in public, eh?  Read more...

Wacom launches Cintiq 24HD pen display

The new 24in (1920 x 1200px) Cintiq 24 HD is the biggest of Wacom's "pen displays". Quite a beast, it comes with a
counter-weighted stand to let users change the angle and height of the screen for optimal scribblage.

Its frame is designed as a resting place for hands and arms, and to provide quick access to the Touch Ring and Express Keys for tool-switching and shortcut action. Meanwhile, there are an incredible 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and 40 degrees of tilt control. Sadly, our hand only does hard or soft and upright or a bit slanty.  Read more...

Pioneer unveils AirPlay Music Tap system

Pioneer has joined the ever-growing AirPlay speaker party by announcing the X-SMC3-S music system. Able to connect to a network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, the system will serve up your entire iTunes music library on a 2.5in colour LCD display with the ability to share playlists on the company’s other Music Tap devices.

vTuner internet radio should provide a nice respite from your questionable audio collection and the cleverly hidden iPod dock, USB port and standard AUX input mean that other devices can join in on the fun.  Read more...
