Former Publicis China CEO Sheena Jeng joins DDB Taiwan

TAIPEI – After spending years in China, advertising veteran Sheena Jeng has returned to her native Taiwan and joined DDB as co-president and chief creative officer.

In her new role, effective tomorrow (8 March), Jeng will work alongside Roy Soetanto, co-president and managing director of DDB Taiwan, with both reporting to Dick van Motman, president and CEO of DDB Greater China Group. She will also add the designation VP Greater China.

Jeng will be responsible for developing DDB Taiwan's business strategy to drive growth, with the goal of making DDB one of the leading agencies in the country.

"Sheena and Roy have worked together before and there is no doubt this duo will broaden our management strength and make DDB a leading agency in Taiwan," said van Motman.

"Sheena brings a lot of valuable experience to our Greater China operations and I'm eager to leverage her skills across the sub region. Additionally, Sheena is one of the rare people from the creative side to head an international agency," he added.

Soetanto said DDB Taiwan Group has made huge progress in recent years, evolving from a single above-the-line agency to a cohesive business solution encompassing DDB, Tribal DDB and RAPP.

"This year is the time for us to up our ante and shift into a higher gear," he said. "Sheena's impressive experience and impeccable reputation will help us push our brand to a higher level."

Jeng stepped down as CEO of Publicis China in February to return to Taiwan. She started her career as a copywriter with a local Taiwanese agency in 1988, and joined O&M Taiwan in 1989 where she worked her way up to creative director.

Jeng also worked as managing director of D'Arcy Taiwan (alongside Soetanto) and led it to win ADM Agency of the Year in 2000. When D'Arcy and Publicis merged in 2002, she helped rebrand and revitalise the agency, achieving ADM Agency of the Year for Publicis Taiwan in 2006.

She comes from a solid creative background and has won numerous domestic and international industry awards, including honors at the China 4A Awards, China Times, New York Festival, Mobius Awards, Long-Xi Awards and the Times Pacific Advertising Awards.
