According to Vincent Kobler, managing director at EmporioAsia Leo Burnett, the agency will begin work with Guoman Hotels to create its website, oversee its search engine marketing and run its campaigns, which includes social media and mobile elements, for its first hotel in Asia, opening in Shanghai.

The group currently owns four luxury hotels in London: the Cumberland, Charing Cross, Royal Horseguards Hotel and Tower Hotel.

Kobler added that Guoman aims to open more hotels in the region, and its Shanghai space will open before the World Expo begins.

The agency additionally won the digital account for the luxury retail and dining centre 3 on the Bund following a competitive pitch.

Kobler said that, as digital agency-of-record, EmporioAsia will handle the building’s website revamp, social media and email marketing and its search engine optimisation.

Work on the brand is also slated to be in place ahead of the Expo.
