Digital happenings this week from StarHub, Amobee, and Microsoft Advertising

Singapore telco and Pay-TV provider StarHub has spent US$185,000 on the top-level domain name .starhub. The move has sparked a wider debate throughout Asia on the value of the newly available suffixes, with StarHub's Oliver Chong saying the new domain would provide "online brand recall and a more intuitive consumer experience".

Mobile advertising agency, Amobee has appointed Arun Poojari as regional account director for Asia-Pacific. Poojari joins from Nokia where he was acting head of consumer engagement for Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific.

Independent mobile advertising network InMobi has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology-educated Phalgun Raju as the regional director and general manager for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Microsoft Advertising has launched a global "storytelling" competition, inviting marketers from 30 countries to submit campaign ideas (for any brand or non-profit organisation) with Microsoft Advertising's digital tools at their heart. The winners will earn a trip to the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity this year.

Aegis Media Indonesia has promoted Debbie Aryandari to the role of chief executive officer of iProspect Indonesia. Formerly search manager at the same agency, she has been promoted to the top role at the search marketing firm with immediate effect.

Also at Aegis, but in Singapore, the holding company has bought into local agency The Upper Storey (TUS). Aegis has taken a minority shareholding, and the agency will rebrand as TUS Isobar, becoming part of Isobar Asia-Pacific.
