AME: Keynote speaker Carol Michaelson to talk about China's role in world history

ASIA-PACIFIC - British Museum curator Carol Michaelson will be the keynote speaker at this year's Asian Marketing Effectiveness (AME) festival held on the 24 & 25th of March in Shanghai.

AME: Keynote speaker Carol Michaelson to talk about China's role in world history
Starting off the festival on the morning of day one, Carol will present a topic on China and the country's importance in the history of the world. The session will include an overview of about 5,000 years of Chinese history and touch briefly on its one real 'blip' from 1800 to 1980. Carol will talk about how it is not surprising to see the country re-emerge to play a vital role on the world stage as a result of its ability to think, innovate and create.

Now semi-retired, Carol has been with the British Museum since 1991 as curator in the Department of Asia and continues to work part-time. During her career she contributed to a variety of publications on the subject including the catalogue for an exhibition of loan objects from China's Golden Age opened in October 1999 by the President of China at the time, Jiang Zemin, and Her Majesty the Queen. Carol has degrees in Western history and Chinese language from the University of London

Carol has also been involved with a long term project digitising the Museum's fragile material in order to make it accessible online. This year she will help organise an exhibition of material from the Qin and Han Dynasties (221 BC - AD 220) at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm.

Themed Ideas for Growth, this year's AMEs will be held on the 24th and 25th of March at the Pudong Shangri-La in Shanghai. The awards festival is now in its 8th year and hailed as the region’s premier recognition of excellence in marketing effectiveness. A highly influential list of leading industry executives, brand pioneers and globally acclaimed marketing experts will take part in an unparalleled programme of challenging keynotes, dynamic panel discussions and informative breakout sessions. The AME Festival is Asia’s premier forum to discuss, debate and celebrate results driven marketing and innovation.

For the first time in 2010, onsite judging will bring together a stellar awards jury with whom festival attendees will be able to network and share insights to address the effectiveness agenda and their ideas for growth.

With dedicated time for networking sessions, the festival will culminate in the AME Awards presentation where the crème de la crème of this year’s effective marketing campaigns will be recognised.
