Chu (pictured) will report directly to Jesse Lin, president of DDB Shanghai Group.

“Digital sits right at the heart of the group’s business”, said Lin, “Tribal DDB has built a solid foundation and reputation in China. We are very excited to welcome Leo to our team. We believe that with his strong experience and leadership, he will help us to raise the bar in providing more advanced and holistic digital offerings for our clients.”

As reported last March, former Tribal DDB managing director Jit Hoong Ng has stepped up to the newly-created role of digital development officer for DDB Greater China Group, and he is still based in Shanghai overseeing digital for the whole DDB Group Greater China.

For the time being Chu, who has been general manager for AQKA Shanghai for three years, will remain as acting general manager at the agency which has Nike and Unilever as its key clients. AKQA says it is looking for a replacement for his role in the industry.

“We’re grateful for Leo’s contribution in the growing agency and client relationships in China.  We wish him well with all of his future endeavors,” Stuart Sproule, managing director, AKQA commented, “We look forward to welcoming new leadership in the AKQA Shanghai office in the near future and the positive impact they will have on continued office expansion and growing client relationships.”
