AIA Group appoints Paul Groves as EVP, group CMO

HONG KONG - Paul Groves, currently senior VP, head of international marketing and direct to consumer channel at Met Life International, will join AIA as group executive vice president and group chief marketing officer, effective 12 January 2011.

Groves joins AIA Group with almost 30 years of marketing experience in financial services.

In his new role, based in Hong Kong, Groves will be in charge of the group's marketing functions including development of overall marketing strategy and planning, communications and branding, product management, business intelligence, customer value group and digital marketing, as well as providing leadership support to AIA's country marketing operations.

Prior to Met Life, he was chief marketing officer for the UK and Ireland at GE Money and spent 27 years with Barclays and Barclaycard in the UK before that.

Mark Tucker, AIA group executive chairman and chief executive officer, said, "The breadth and depth of Paul's experience makes him an extremely valuable addition to my leadership team. "

Reported yesterday, Christopher Wei, EVP and group CMO of AIA, is leaving the company to become group CEO of Great Eastern Holdings.
